The answer is... maybe.
Some boards with CNVi M.2 connector implementations will work just fine with non-CNVi cards installed. Others won't - in fact, some of these won't even power on with the non-CNVi card installed. The only way to know is to try it.
Now, if you do try it, remember that you need to fully uninstall the Wireless and Bluetooth driver stacks before making the hardware change and then install the Wireless and Bluetooth driver packages anew.
