Subject: Intel Wireless Bluetooth - HFP profile not establishing, Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source missing from Device Manager
Body:
I am unable to use the microphone of my Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT headphones on my HP B8SQ8EA#AB8 with Intel Wireless Bluetooth (Intel Core 7 150U).
System info:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (Build 26200.8246)
- Bluetooth adapter: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) — driver version 24.30.1.1 (latest)
- Headphones: Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT
Problem: The headphones connect successfully in A2DP mode (stereo audio works fine), but the HFP (Hands-Free Profile) never establishes. In Sound Settings, only "Headphones - MOMENTUM M2 OEBT" appears as both input and output — there is no separate "Headset Microphone" entry. Selecting the headphones as microphone input produces only static noise.
Key finding in Device Manager: Under Bluetooth devices, Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source is completely missing. There are no HFP-related entries at all. The hardware ID showing as unknown is: BTHENUM\{1ddce62a-ecb1-4455-8153-0743c87aec9f}_VID&00010082_PID&004a
Troubleshooting already performed:
- Verified SCOEnabled = 1 in registry (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{e0cbf06c...}\0000)
- Restarted Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service, Bluetooth Support Service
- Unpaired and re-paired headphones multiple times, including full reset of headphones
- Removed all hidden Bluetooth devices in Device Manager and re-paired
- Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow — no errors found
- Performed Windows 11 in-place repair — issue persists
- Intel Bluetooth driver is fully up to date
Additional evidence: The same headphones work perfectly (including microphone/HFP) on another PC running Realtek Bluetooth (HP laptop, model B8SQ8EA). On that machine, Realtek Bluetooth Device Manager Service is present and running, and the headset microphone appears correctly as a separate input device.
Conclusion: This appears to be an Intel Bluetooth driver incompatibility with the Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT HFP profile. The SCO audio channel required for HFP is not being established by the Intel adapter. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello SametKartal,
Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.
Based on your detailed description, I can see you're experiencing a Bluetooth pairing and connectivity issue where the HFP (Hands-Free Profile) is not establishing properly with your Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT headphones on your HP system with Intel Wireless Bluetooth.
Since you've already performed extensive troubleshooting, I recommend the following additional steps:
Step 1: Clean Bluetooth Driver Installation
1. Download the latest Intel Bluetooth driver and save it locally
2. Uninstall device software:
- Go to Apps & Features in Windows Settings
- Uninstall "Intel® Wireless Bluetooth®"
3. Manually remove drivers:
- Device Manager > Bluetooth > Right-click "Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)" > Uninstall
- Check "Delete the driver software for this device"
4. Clear temporary files:
- Press Windows Key + R, type Cleanmgr.exe
- Select Temporary Files, click OK
5. Reboot your computer
- Install the Bluetooth driver first, then any wireless drivers, his device"
Step 2: Registry and Service Verification
1. Ensure Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service is set to Automatic startup
2. Verify Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services are running
Step 3: Advanced Bluetooth Settings Try adjusting advanced Bluetooth adapter properties:
1. Device Manager > Bluetooth > Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) > Properties > Advanced
2. Look for any HFP or SCO-related settings and ensure they're enabled
Step 4: Windows Bluetooth Stack Reset Perform a complete Bluetooth stack reset:
1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator
2. Execute: netsh int ip reset
3. Execute: netsh winsock reset
4. Restart the system

If the issue persists, kindly share the additional information below for further investigation.
1. What is the exact Intel Wireless Bluetooth adapter model?
2. What was the last known working driver version?
3. Have you tried rolling back to an earlier Bluetooth driver version to test if this is a regression?
4. Screenshot of Device manager > Intel Wireless Bluetooth > Properties
I look forward to your response.

Hi Jed,
Thank you again for your support.
I want to make an important update:
The problem does not occur on other systems.
Test results:
- Headset: Sennheiser MOMENTUM M2 OEBT
- System 1 (working): ASUS X1504VA → HFP is working correctly (microphone available)
- System 2 (problematic): HP B8SQ8EA → HFP is not working (microphone device not visible)
On the problematic HP system:
- "MOMENTUM M2 OEBT Hands-Free" does not appear in Device Manager
- It does not appear in Recording Devices
- The sound is only crackling, it doesn't pick up sound
This confirms that:
The headset is working correctly and the problem may be specific to the HP system because I previously opened the logs in the links below for my old HP laptop.
- https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Nautilus-Driver/td-p/7533228
In this case, the problem seems likely to be related to:
- Compatibility of the Intel Bluetooth driver with this system
- Or system-specific Bluetooth/firmware configuration
Could you please provide information on the following:
- Are there any known compatibility issues with specific OEM systems (HP and ASUS)?
- Could this problem be related to BIOS, firmware, or Intel Bluetooth adapter variations?
- Is there a recommended driver version for better HFP stability?
I can provide system details, screenshots, or logs if needed.
Sincerely,
Samet

Hi SametKartal,
Thank you for sharing this information with me. The tests that you have conducted is crucial and will definitely help moving forward.
Regarding your questions, at this time we are not aware of any known compatibility issues between the mentioned OEMs. The root cause of the issue is still under investigation and may be related to one or more of the factors you mentioned. For now, we recommend installing the driver by following the guidance in the article: Better Bluetooth Experience – Recommended Wireless, Audio Drivers and OS Configurations
To help us further narrow down the issue, could you please confirm the details below?
1. Does the issue occur only when using the Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT headphones?
2. What version of Intel® Smart Sound Technology is currently installed?
3. Has this issue been present since you first started using the computer with these headphones, or did it develop over time?
4. What is the full model of the wireless card? You can find this information by going to Device Manager > Network adapters.
Once I have this information, I will continue investigating the issue further.
Best regards

Update:
I'm able to use my headset without any problems when I plug in the TP-Link UB500 5.0 Bluetooth adapter and disable Intel Bluetooth. The microphone issue is resolved. However, I aim to solve this problem without using an external Bluetooth transmitter.
