For about a week now, the Intel wireless card in my Asus g46vw laptop has been shutting off every 5 minutes or so. I've tried EVERY possible solution. Whether it was suggested on this forum, or somewhere else, NOTHING has worked. I can give additional info if it's necessary. And if you're going to try and help me out, PLEASE do not post links to other articles. Just quote them so that I don't have to clikc them and make my connection even SLOWER.

These are some recommendations:

  • Check the security encryption settings in both the computer wireless profile and the router. For home use we suggest WPA2-AES and avoid options related to TKIP.
  • Relocate interfering devices and/or router. AP's antenna usually radiates in a doughnut shaped pattern.
  • Change from automatic channel selection to the least congested wireless channel on your router. The recommended channels are 1, 6, and 11 depending on your wireless environment. You may monitor it with http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ InSSIDer*.
  • Roaming aggressiveness is suggested to be set to medium or less in the wireless driver's advanced settings.
  • Update your wireless adapter driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
  • Update your router's firmware for better compatibility.

It would be good to know your operating system, if the computer disassociates from the AP, the status of the wireless icon in the system tray, or if anything changed (in your computer, router, environment...) during the last week before the issue started to happen.
