I'd just like to ask for a little more information considering the type of scenario:

Did it work before (with the same or any older driver version)?

I suggest a complete uninstall of Intel® Proset Software from Programs and Features, restart the system, delete the folders described below, and then install Intel® Proset Software again.

Intel Proset is not listed under Programs and Features

the folders were deleted / reattempt reinstall and same error

This is probably caused by data corruption somewhere. I suggest repairing Microsoft* .NET Framework from Programs and Features.

Please try downloading and installing the driver provided directly by the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm system manufacturer.

If it worked before, you may want to use Windows* System Restore.

You may also consider contacting http://www.intel.com/support/mailform/networking/wireless/emailsupport.htm Intel support for more assistance on this specific issue.
