Intel R wireless Bluetooth code 31.

I have to to use an external adapter as the internal bluetooth is not powerful enough to reach where im sitting.

It had been working fine for over a year now but its now throwing up code 31 driver cannot be found.

I disconnected my usb bluetooth adapter and then restarted and it no longer had a code 31 but as stated it was fine until now.

I have used the intel driver and support assistant to update the drivers for Intel R wireless bluetooth but it still throws up code 31.

Ive tried uninstalling it, then reinstalling the drivers, tried changing the drivers to the basic drivers, but they still all force code 31.

Hi, NothingANada.

Thank you for posting in our Intel communities.

I would like to know if you're able to see also the error message or the yellow bang on your Device Manager. These errors in Device Manager for Bluetooth or Wireless (Wi-Fi) Devices can be caused by many different issues. An error code 31 can occur when Bluetooth cannot be enabled. As such, I would like to go a step further and confirm details such as processor, graphics models, particularly the wireless driver versions, and the errors logged at the system level, etc. The Intel SSU tool can gather such details about your system configuration that may help me root cause of this issue.

Hi, NothingANada.

Thank you for your response. Upon reviewing the submitted Intel SSU scan, your motherboard ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO has an onboard Intel WIFI adapter, therefore to fix the error code 31, please reinstall its Bluetooth driver using the driver by ASUS from the link below:

https://rog.asus.com/my/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xiii-hero-model/helpdesk_download/

You may contact ASUS as well for further assistance on how to install the said Bluetooth driver of your ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO motherboard.

Best regards,

Jay B.

Hi

I went and uninstalled an reinstalled the drivers.

however the problem still occurs and when installing it says, ibtusb.inf: Successfully added oem8.inf and installed on 0 device(s)

the image reappears with the check mark on it still.

Hi, NothingANada.

Thank you for your response. It is a bit strange as if the OEM Bluetooth driver is installed on the ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO (OEM device), it must be working. I found this article, (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000089652/wireless/intel-wi-fi-6-products.html), where you can find the troubleshooting steps that we will be going to perform. You may refer also to this link/article: (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000031150/wireless/wireless-software.html)

Since you mentioned that you already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but the problem remains, and when installing it displays the "ibtusb.inf: Successfully added oem8.inf and installed on 0 device(s)". As such, I kindly ask you to take a screenshot that shows the errors and versions of the Bluetooth driver after you re-installing the OEM Bluetooth driver (https://rog.asus.com/my/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xiii-hero-model/helpdesk_download/). But this time, kindly use the Device Manager. To view the versions and error message/yellow bang, if any, please go to Device Manager > Bluetooth > Right click > choose Properties > Driver. In this way, I can determine if the OEM Bluetooth version is installed properly on the system and if there are no errors in the Device status.

I would like to know if what is the exact make and model of the external adapter (As internal Bluetooth) that you have tried to connect to your ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO (OEM device) so that I can further check if there were issues with this device.

Moreover, to set your expectations, please be informed that since you're using an external adapter as the internal Bluetooth, there could be a conflict between the OEM Bluetooth driver and the external adapter.

Hi

I've attached the screenshot

Regarding the external usb Bluetooth adapter its a Realtek Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter

The thing is I was running it fine until over a week ago when it suddenly stopped working. I did investigate and when unplugged the Intel works fine, however as it was fine until then I dont understand why it would suddenly stop being compatible.

Hi, NothingANada.

I appreciate your reply and the screenshots you sent that show the driver versions of the Intel Wireless Bluetooth. Can you please tell me if you have tried to turn off the Intel Wireless Bluetooth that shows the yellow bang or an error message? (As shown in the image attached) and check if your external USB Realtek Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter works properly.

Also, since this is an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Bluetooth device, please be aware that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed for your system. Therefore, we would advise you to contact your device manufacturer (https://www.realtek.com/en/investor-relations/ir-contact) and use the driver software provided by them to prevent potential installation issues. Intel® only provides generic versions of Graphics Drivers for general purposes.

Hi

I have turned off Intel Wireless Bluetooth but I still get no connection. I have tried a different bluetooth wireless adapter of different make but it still did not allow connection.

I am unsure of what has caused this as I stated it was working fine over a week ago.

Hello NothingANada.

Can you check its status inside BIOS > Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration, 'Bluetooth Controller' should be Enabled. If the controller is set to enabled, might as well double check if the physical connection (antenna) of the Wi-Fi card is secured to the rear I/O terminals of your motherboard.
