New Router causing BSOD

When trying to connect to the wifi with a new router and higher internet speed, I get a blue screen of death with the message:

KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED What failed: Netwsw00.sys

It works fine with an ethernet cable. I looked it up and followed the instructions to update the network adapter driver, but my driver is already up to date and is working properly.  

It also suggested there is something in the router settings causing a conflict with the network adapter but I don't know how to find out or how to fix that.

Is this something I can fix in my laptop or do I have to do something to the router?

Since Netwsw00.sys is related to the Intel wifi driver, I'd focus on the laptop first. Even if Device Manager says the driver is up to date, try installing the latest Intel wifi driver directly from Intel or your laptop manufacturer's support page.

You can also try connecting to the router's 2.4 GHz network instead of 5 GHz/6 GHz. If that works without the BSOD, it could point to a compatibility issue with the new router's wifi settings.
