PROset wireless bluetooth software installer error please help! intel 6230

Hi guys. I picked up a intel 6230 wireless card for my laptop. Got the main wireless drivers installed and the card works good for that, however I am having a issue installing the bluetooth software for it. About 75% on the install bar and I get a pop up message saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

laptop is a Hp dv6 6135dx by the way. running custom bios to remove whitelist, I don't think it is a problem, just need to get the installer to work. Any ideas? windows 7 64 bit.

Ok, and as for uninstalling the partially-installed bluetooth drivers which refuse to uninstall because the card is not present? Seems to me that the uninstaller should work regardless (ESPECIALLY if the card is actually not present, as white right does someone have to even have it installed if they don't have that card?)?

Or are you going to tell me that uninstalling your software is also not supported and I should contact my OEM for this, as well?

Also, what of the barebones, white-box, laptop I am also trying this card in? This is not an OEM system. What in that case?

Well this whole thread has left a bitter taste in my mouth regarding Intel, especially the lack of response when asking how to uninstall the drivers for this card, since the uninstaller refuses to run if the card is not properly installed and the card can not be properly installed on my system.

Refusal to even address my inquiries regarding barebones laptops (yes, they exist, you can get them on Newegg, amongst other places) which don't have an OEM to contact for support, as they are not OEM systems, really has pushed me over the edge.

I am an IT infrastructure consultant and, quite often, a situation arises where I present a client with the option of one more powerful Intel-based server versus two less poserful AMD-based servers (which, combined, blow away the Intel solution) and we determine that, over the required life of whatever solution we arrive at, the cost, including upkeep, is almost identical. I have always steered my clients toward Intel in these cases. I will be leaning more toward AMD in the future, with Intel taking a back burner, only bein mentioned if aclient specifically requests the use of Intel-based systems in their build.

I think my question was legitimate, how do I uninstall the drivers for this card, since I can not use it? Your representatives couldn't even acknowledge my question and ignored me on the basis that what I was initally trying to do (install an Intel wireless adapter in an OEM system) was unsupported; be damned the fact that two other inquiries I made in this thread should fully be supported by Intel (the installation of that same card in a non-OEM system and the uninstallation of software which, if left installed, would be in violation of Intel's software licensing agreement).

Don't bother answering either question now, as I have destroyed the card in question and the Windows install that was ruined by the inability to uninstall your crappy drivers that interfered with my ability to install a different card had been wiped and reinstalled from scratch. You guys screwed up and this will cost you many commercial accounts going forward, as my clients hold my purchasing suggestions in high regard.

I no longer require support for this issue, but I would like to be acknowledged, and maybe you should still answer both of those questions, for other who may find this thread. Who knows, maybe going that extra two inches (I'm not even asking for a mile) will convince me to keep steering my clients toward Intel when there is (as the is more often than not) no clear-cut winner between AMD and Intel.

Hi.

I have the same problem like hypertek.

During the instalation shows error message with OBEX Service failed to start...

Bluetooth doesn't work..

When I installed the Bluesoleil I was able to use Bluetooth, but it is a workaround ..

Waiting for a solution to this problem maybe fixed version of the installer..

Hello.

I managed to resolve my problem.

First disable wifi and uninstall all, app & driver for both:bluetooth and wifi, with remove the driver.

Remove remaining folder, clean registry and reboot.

After reboot instal first bluetooth driver, then the wifi.

Finally all work fine.

can you provide the location of the folder that houses the drvs and registry items, so that I may try your method.

Thanks in advance,

Ace

I had the similar problem - not able to uninstall Intel PROset wireless Bluetooth software. I have Win 7 64-bit. Accidentally installed the software without a Intel Bluetooth device present. Whenever I tried to uninstall (remove) the software, it tells me that I need to insure the device is installed properly before I can remove it - but I don't have the device! I tried many things suggested by this forum and others but didn't get it fixed. Finally I got it removed by using the following Windows utility (I think it's the update version of "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility")

"Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled"

I hope this could help others struggled as I did for over a year with this problem.

This is to confirm that the uninstall fixit tool from Microsoft that vincentphsu outlines in his solution works perfectly to properly uninstall the Intel Network wireless drivers that fail to uninstall using any other tools. Simply download it, install the exe file and then choose uninstall, and after some time it will present you with a list of programs from which you can choose your desired drivers to uninstall. I too have spent at least 4 solid hours searching for a solution and THIS ONE WORKS!

Here is Vincent's link once again:

Thanks Very Much Vincent for sharing!!
