Here is what I have concluded - unfortunately not with 100% confidence - from everything that I have read. Intel Customer Support will need to do a final verification for us.
Statement: The AX201 M.2 module supports the CNVio2 interface and can only be used with compliant (400 Series?) motherboards (i.e. with CNVio2-compliant M.2 Type E connector) and compliant 10th gen processors.
In terms of your questions, the answers would be:
Is AX201 backward compatible?
No, it is not backwards compatible.
Can AX201 support the CNVio interface?
No, it supports CNVio2 interface and can only be used with compliant (400 Series?) motherboards (i.e. with CNVio2-compliant M.2 Type E connector).
Can AX201 use on 8gen processor?
No, it can only be used with compliant 10th gen processors.
