SSID is not displayed on a personal computer equipped with AX211

Hello, this is Kobayashi.

There is a product called CC3235MODAS that uses TI's WiFi IC.

We have confirmed a phenomenon where the SSID of our product is not displayed when the SSID is displayed on a computer equipped with AX211. At this time, the distance between the computer and this product will be approximately 10 cm to several meters.

It was displayed when the distance was 5cm and 20m. It turns out you can't see it from a few meters away.

The result is the same even if you change the orientation of the product, so it is not a radiation characteristic of the antenna.

On computers equipped with AC3165 and AX203, the SSID will be displayed regardless of distance.

There are multiple units of the same product, and in the good ones, the SSID will be displayed even on computers equipped with AX211.

On the other hand, the bad one does not display his SSID on the computer equipped with AX211.

Although there are individual differences between products, there are clear differences between AX211 and other products.

Why can't I see his SSID on his AX211 a few meters away?

I think there is something wrong with AX211.

I'm having trouble figuring out the cause.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Hello YK7,

Thank you for posting in the communities. I do have some clarification regarding your inquiry. When you mention CC3235MODAS, is this a product that you are currently developing? You may also send with us the SSU logs of your system so we can be more familiar with it's configuration. Additionally, are there any obstructions within the 10 cm range where in the disconnect occurs? Are you also using a software with this observation? The reason I ask is because I noticed the 5cm and 10 cm distance is quite a small distance. I will be waiting for your reply.

こんにちは、Ramyer M.

お返事ありがとうございます。

CC3235MODAS は TI の製品ではなく、TI の WiFi IC です。

当社の製品にはそれが組み込まれています。

10cm以内に障害物はありません。

特別なソフトウェアは使用していません。

Windows

Hello Ramyer M.

Thank you for your reply.

CC3235MODAS is not our product, but a TI WiFi IC.

Our product incorporates it.

There are no obstacles within 10cm.

No special software is used.

I click on the Windows network icon to display it.

About the problem

I have two of the same product.

-One displays the SSID on any personal computer.

-The other does not display the SSID on a personal computer equipped with an AX211, depending on the distance. The SSID is displayed without any problems on personal computers equipped with a WiFi module other than the AX211.

Why does the SSID not display depending on the distance only on a personal computer equipped with an AX211?

Hello YK7,

Thank you for confirming. To be honest with you, I want to coordinate this with our team for proper investigation. You mentioned that your product incorporates, could you please tell me more about this? Would you be able to share the SSU logs of this product as well?

I will be waiting for your reply.

Hi Ramyer M.

Thanks for your reply.

The WiFi module is not built into Windows-based products, but it does run our software.

Therefore, there is no SSU log and you cannot get it.

The computers used are:

- Computers that do not show the SSID

Surface (with AX211) win11

Lenovo PC (with AX211) win11

- Computers that show the SSID

Lenovo PC (with AX203) win11

Lenovo PC (with AC3165) win10

Even if your computer does not show the SSID, sometimes it will show up if you turn the computer around.

So it might just be that the antenna radiation pattern is different.

Aren't the antenna radiation characteristics of the AX211 very different from those of the AX203 and AC3165?

Hello YK7,

Thank you for replying to my post. To further help you, I really do need the specifics on what product the AX211 is built into. Please tell me the specific model of the device it is build into as well as the model of the computers that do not show the SSID. Are these custom build desktops or laptops? Regarding the antenna radiation characteristics that you mention are you referring to the WIFI technology of AX211, AX203 and AC3165? I apologize if this post seemed to focus on clarification, however I want to make sure we are on the same page to give you an accurate solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hello YK7,

Thank you for patiently waiting. Upon coordinating with our team, we kindly ask for you to try the following steps:

  1. Ensure the WIFI driver on the system is updated to the most current version available. As this are several OEM devices, we highly recommend the one available on the OEM website of each system.
  2. Attempt to connect to an alternate access point to see if the issue persists.

Additionally, please also share with us the following details;

  1. Is the network that you are using a personal one or a company network?
  2. May I please know the brand and model of the router or modem that you are attempting to connect to?
  3. To make sure we are on the same page, is your intention to establish a connection  between the computer and the CC3235MODAS?
  4. It would be helpful as well if you could describe the setup process. This will allow us to gain a clearer understanding of the issue at hand.
  5. Just to confirm as well, is there an attempt to connect to a network operating at 6GHz?

I will be waiting for your reply.

Hi Ramyer M.

 Thanks for your reply.

It doesn't connect to the network.

 I'm not using a router.

Our product connects 1:1 to the PC via WiFi and imports the data measured by our product into the PC.

What I want to do is connect the PC to the CC3235MODAS.

I tried installing the latest WiFi driver from the PC manufacturer, but that didn't change the situation.

 I don't use 6GHz.

I click the WiFi icon on my PC, select the SSID and connect.

For AX211 (802.11ax) laptop, is that any wi-fi connection issue using a mobile hotspot or home wi-fi or it is only occurring Wi-Fi connection problem for this CC3235MODS?
