WIFI Card fails when extending display Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (TP-Link Archer TXE72E)

Product: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (TP-Link Archer TXE72E)
OS: Windows 11 64-bit

Issue: Repeated Wi-Fi driver crashes with Netwtw14 Event IDs 5002, 5005, 5007, and 6062 whenever extending my display to my tv (TCL QM6K)

Behavior:
• Wi-Fi adapter resets unexpectedly (disconnects, then reconnects)
• Issue is reliably triggered by HDMI / display state changes (extending display, turning TV on/off)
• Happens on both 5 GHz and 6 GHz

Drivers tested:
I tested both TP-Link latest drivers and latest Intel WIFI drivers for the AX210 currently I am on 24.10.0.4.

This appears to be a driver regression affecting AX210 desktop PCIe adapters, likely related to power/PCIe state handling during display changes. Is this a known issue, and is there a recommended stable driver or workaround for AX210 desktop users?

Specs

- AMD RYZEN 7 5700X

- MSI B550 A-PRO

- RTX 3080 (Using with HDMI for display)

- 16 GB 3600

After installing the new WIFI card and replacing the AX210 with a WIFI 7 Intel BE200, the issue seems to be solved. After the swap, I no longer have any disconnects when extending my display while using HDMI. I no longer have any Netwtw errors and I am now consistently holding 6ghz unlike before. A potential reason for the issue was instability on the 5ghz band while using the AX210.

Drivers and power options did not help but changing the chipset from AX210 to BE200 solved it for me. Therefore I believe this is a hardware limitation or potentially a defective AX210 adapter issue.

Hello lpizza,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities and for sharing the detailed information about your Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 issue with the TP-Link Archer TXE72E adapter.

Can you provide more specific details about how the WiFi adapter behaves when extending your display:

  • At what exact point does the WiFi fail? (When initially extending to TV, when turning TV on/off, when switching back to single display?)
  • How does the failure manifest? (Complete disconnection, slow speeds, intermittent drops, error messages?)
  • What steps are required to restore WiFi functionality? (Automatic reconnection, manual adapter restart, system reboot?)
  • How long does the WiFi remain unstable after the display change?

You may try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Test with the Wi-Fi adapter in a different PCIe slot if available
  • Check Windows Power Management settings for the Wi-Fi adapter (disable "Allow computer to turn off this device")
  • Try to clean install the TP-Link or Intel driver (24.10.0.4) using the steps from this link. You might try rolling back to an earlier Intel driver version (23.x series) to see if the issue persists.
  • Apply the Recommended Settings for Wireless Connectivity.

While I can provide general guidance on Intel chipset behavior, TP-Link would be better positioned to address hardware-specific power management and PCIe implementation issues with their adapter.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

So I use my main display monitor which is connected to my GPU through display port and there are no issues, but once I connect my TV (through my HDMI port on my GPU) and click WIN + P --> Extend, my TV will work perfectly with the extended display but the WIFI will disconnect and errors will begin in the event log of my WIFI card driver. Once I switch back to single display the issue resolves and the error in the event log stops.

I just tried the troubleshooting steps you listed which did not work too, would getting a new card change anything?

What kind of PCIe slot do you have the card plugged into? These cards have issues if NOT plugged into PCIe x1 slots. That is, problems can occur if PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slots are used.
Hope this helps,
...S
P.S. I would add that this issue has existed for many years, across the gamut of Intel Wireless adapters, when used with this type of card-carrier PCIe card.

I had the card plugged into the PCIe 1x and then tried a 16x with the same result. I just bought a new Intel TP-Link BE6500 card to see if anything changes and its coming tonight. I will share if it helps or not.

Hello lpizza,

Thank you for sharing this information. This is an unusual issue. The connection between extending your display and Wi-Fi disconnection suggests a few possible causes:

  1. Power Supply Issues: When you extend to a second display, your GPU draws more power, which might be causing voltage fluctuations that affect your Wi-Fi card. Even though you tried different PCIe slots, this could still be the culprit.
  2. Driver Conflicts: There might be a conflict between your GPU drivers and WiFi drivers when the GPU enters extended display mode.
  3. USB/PCIe Power Management: Windows might be aggressively managing power to PCIe devices when GPU load increases.

Before your new card arrives, try these steps:

  • Disable PCIe power management: Device Manager → Network Adapters → Your WiFi card → Properties → Power Management → Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device"
  • Check PSU capacity: What's your power supply wattage? An underpowered PSU could cause this exact symptom

Regarding the new Intel card: This may help in isolating the issue. Please update us when you test the new BE6500 - this will help determine if it's hardware-specific or a broader system issue.

Looking forward to your next update.

Hello lpizza,

Thank you for the detailed update. I'm glad the WiFi 7 Intel BE200 card has resolved your display extension issues and eliminated the connectivity problems. Your assessment of the AX210's limitations is well-founded.

Since the issue is now resolved, I'll close this case. Please create a new thread for any future concerns, as this one will no longer be monitored.

We appreciate you sharing this resolution for the benefit of other users.

Sincerely,

JeanetteC.
