Hello marcj,
We understand your system is disabling the wireless adapter when Ethernet is connected and you want to prevent this behavior. It is important to mention that in current configurations this is handled only by the BIOS and the Operating System, not with the driver. In Windows* 7, there was the https://cqcontent.intel.com/content/www/uk/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005972.html Adapter Switching feature of Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software, however, it was deprecated with Windows* 8 and later.
We advise you to check the PC BIOS since most computers have the option to disable wireless when a wired connection is detected, causing the behavior you describe. You might want to engage the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support for information on how to configure this in the BIOS of you computer.
Please keep in mind that if you are using Windows* 7, the BIOS settings will always have a higher priority than the Adapter Switching option of the driver.
Regards,
Jonathan B.
