We teach the venerable Chinese martial art of Tai Chi Chuan to people with special needs. The bulk of students are somewhere on the autism spectrum, but we support arthrogryposis, cerebral palsy, ataxia and Down syndrome spectra as well. Heavy use is made of sensors on wrists, in hats and in smart garments to provide daily digital scores to parents and physicians so that quantitative decisions about changes in diet, sleep, medications and logistics can be made. We are currently struggling with Fourier analysis to detect pain.
