I think the book is a must for anyone to review especially before they go ahead and buy Vtune.
If I had the book earlier enough, I would have bought the Windows
version since it comes with teh vtserver and the functionality in the windows version is much more advanced than in the linux one.
I think the book needs to be kept updated for future version of vtune.

Please note that the next release of VTune for Linux, which is version 8.0, has a much more sophisticated Linux GUI than any previous Linux release.
That software will be available for download and evaluation in November of this year.
