>Side note: the error popup explicitly said to email email@example.com, but then I got a reply that I should not use that inbox! That's a bit annoying.
Please try "amplxe-feedback -send-crash-report report_file" ; it should work I tested on Linux where I have no email box.
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Can you please do the following in command line:
> set TEMP=c:\temp
Does it still crash?
You may type 'set' in CMD console and take a look what environment variables you have set on your system. If you have, for example 'TEMP=c:/temp' or/and 'TMP=c:/temp' in the list of environment variables then need to update the temp variables using back-slashes in path(s)!
For example, I have the following on my Windows system:
One more which need to check is, you have the pointed temp directories on disk exist and write permissions set.
You may update the env. variables in local console(CMD) or on System level. If you update it locally please keep in mind that 'amplxe-gui.exe' need to start from the console(CMD) you updated for.
If you update the variables on System level then need to re-open console/CMD/window_explorer to get the variables propagated. And after that you may start 'amplxe-gui.exe' or VS with VTune integrated.
Please let us know if you still have the message box ( "Fail in NS_NewNativeLocalFile!") or/and crash on start of 'amplxe-gui.exe' or in VS.
In order to rule that out, I opened a command prompt as an administrator (probably unnecessary since I am already an admin on this machine). I set TEMP to C:\Temp, created that folder, and set privileges to "Full Control". I typed "set" and verified TEMP was set to C:\Temp. I ran amplxe-gui.exe and still got both the "Fail in NS_NewNativeLocalFile!" and crash after running an analysis.
Please try to setup TMP variable together with TEMP - use the same value.
Also, can you provide your original value of TEMP variable? If you can not share it, will you please send it to me as a private message?
Jeremy, please check your message box right on software.intel.com - look on the top right corner of the site, you should have a few messages from me and Dmitry.
