VTune CPU time for performance-snapshot vs hotspot analysis

I am trying to use VTune to measure CPU time for our tests on Windows so that we can store it in a database and detect any significant increases with code changes.

Given one test, I ran it from the command line and it returns within a couple seconds.  When I run a performance-snapshot analysis on the same test, it also reports an "Elapsed Time" of 1.333s.  But when I run a hotspots analysis, the "Elapsed Time" jumps to 69.441s and the "CPU Time" is reported as 67.015s.

What could cause this huge difference?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Intel forums.

Could you share the sample reproducer so that we can try from our end?

I'm afraid I cannot provide the test itself because it has proprietary information.  I can provide the vtune output files for the two runs if that helps?

Thanks

Bruce

Hi,

I hope you are doing well.

Could you please try the same analysis on the latest version of Intel Vtune and let us know if the issue still persists?

Thanks,

Jaideep
