Dear VTune Support Team,

I am running vtune_profiler_2020.0.0.605129 and having the following issue:

=============================================================

vtune: Executing actions 0 %
vtune: Warning: The result contains a lot of raw data. Finalization may take a long time to complete.

and stuck at:

vtune: Executing actions 12 % Loading '10071-10541.1.trace' file

=============================================================

I am running MadGraph5_aMC@NLO (https://launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo) on linux.

Python 2.7.5
[GCC 4.8.5 20150623 (Red Hat 4.8.5-39)] on linux2

Could you please suggest a solution.

Thank you.

Best,

Smita

Hi Smita,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Please try below options to solve the issue:

1. While checking your query, we found that you are using an older version of Vtune. It would be better if you upgrade it to the latest release. Then, try to do the analysis.

2. Also, you can try to import the .tb7 files from the result directory. You can find the .tb7 files in the data.0 folder of the vtune result directory.

A) To import this files through command line:

vtune -import <path to vtune result dir>/data.0/.tb7 file

eg: vtune -import <Path to result dir>/r010hs/data.0/sep8b9c.20200515T185752.8595780.tb7

B) To import trace files through vtune-gui, select import result option from menu button. In the Import window, select the Import raw trace data option. Click the browse button to navigate to the required file and select the file & click import button on the right. To import multiple files, select the Import multiple trace files from a directory option.

Please refer to the below document for more information: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/documentation/vtune-help/top/analyze-performance/manage-result-files/importing-results-to-gui.html

Hopes this resolves your issue.

Hi Smita,

You can try one more feature in Vtune like Fast finalization, available in Advanced options of Vtune configuration window. To do this:

Click on Configure Analysis -> Expand Advanced options in WHAT pane -> Select Finalization mode as Fast.

Please refer to the below document for more information on finalization:

https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/documentation/vtune-help/top/analyze-performance/control-data-collection/finalization.html
