Hello, I searched the archives but did not find anything useful. I do not want to reboot because then I lose my other sampling data.
I keep getting this:
Tue Nov 23 20:57:39 2004 (Run 2) The Sampling Collector is collecting samples based on the following event(s): MOB Loads Replays Retired, Stalled Cycles of Store Buffer Resources (Non-Standard), TC flushes, 3rd-Level Cache Reads Hit Modified.

Tue Nov 23 20:57:50 2004 (Run 2) Sampling data was successfully collected.

Tue Nov 23 20:57:52 2004 (Run 3) The Sampling Collector is calibrating its collection parameters for the following event(s): Speculative TC-delivered uops, Speculative Uops Retired, 3rd-Level Cache Reads Hit Exclusive.

Tue Nov 23 20:58:04 2004 (Run 3) The Sampling Collector is collecting samples based on the following event(s): Speculative TC-delivered uops, Speculative Uops Retired, 3rd-Level Cache Reads Hit Exclusive.

Tue Nov 23 20:58:05 2004 (Run 3) The Sampling Collector failed to start collecting data for an unknown reason.

Debugview shows this:

Does your platform have a 3rd level cache? It looks like the failure is associated with one of the events you have chosen. I would consider it a bug, even if selecting an unsupported event produces a failure. I don't know that there is a way to use sampling results from a partly completed run.

Yes, the platform does have a 3rd level cache, and actually I have two other sampling runs where it succeeded this "run3", indeed all 18 runs went through fine. I didn't want to lose these two other runs, but I guess it's Windows and rebooting solves all problems and I will have to rerun the first two experiments.

Anything I can do "post mortem"/"post bug" to help Intel fix the bug before I reboot?

Ok reboot did not help. Now I get the following:

Thu Nov 25 13:12:17 2004 (Run 6) The Sampling Collector is calibrating its collection parameters for the following event(s): Branches Retired, Trace Cache Misses.

Thu Nov 25 13:12:37 2004 (Run 6) The Sampling Collector is collecting samples based on the following event(s): Branches Retired, Trace Cache Misses.

Thu Nov 25 13:12:58 2004 (Run 6) Sampling data was successfully collected.

Thu Nov 25 13:12:58 2004 (Run 7) The Sampling Collector is calibrating its collection parameters for the following event(s): Split Stores Retired (TI-E).

Thu Nov 25 13:13:19 2004 (Run 7) The Sampling Collector is collecting samples based on the following event(s): Split Stores Retired (TI-E).

Thu Nov 25 13:13:19 2004 (Run 7) The Sampling Collector failed to start collecting data for an unknown reason.

Help!
