file names

It seems rather primitive that Vtune can only name its files with a non-intuitive numbered template, rather than letting the user specify each file name based on his testing. After several updates, I would have expected this to be one of the first things to be fixed. Is it not on someone's roadmap?

Bill,

Thank you for your comments and input. I am assuming that you are referring to the result directory naming template functionality. For the benefit of the Forum thread, this would be functionality in the -result-dir command line option. One can specify the predefined template to increment analysis results directory name as each new analysis is ran. For those who are interested, specific information about this can be found at: http://software.intel.com/sites/products/documentation/hpc/amplifierxe/en-us/win/ug_docs/olh/cli_ref/result-dir.html

From the command line you can add the template to a naming convention of your own choice. For example:
amplxe-cl -collect hotspots -result-dir HelloWorldResults_r@@@ -- ./hello_world

Can you provide additional information about the functionality / usage model you would like to see added to Intel Amplifier? We can then provide this information to Development.

Thanks
Rob
