Hi all,
I'd been using Vtune on SLES 10 with the pre-built driver from Intel with no problem. Now i've compiled a new Linux kernel 2.6.24. Everything seems smooth from booting to Vtune driver compilation and installation. But as soon as i start sampling with Vtune (from either cmd line or GUI), the whole system freezes.
I wish i could further clarify my problem but i'm kinda new to Vtune as well. Does anyone has any idea what could be the problem? Is it because Vtune is very kernel dependant? Or is there anything info/logs i could provide?
Any help is much appreciated.
Rgds,
JW Lam

VTune Sampling Driver is definitely kernel dependent. On some target platforms, a recompile of the Driver sources is needed to ensure that the resultant module can be properly inserted.
Which version of VTune were you using? Are you able to reproduce it on the more recent versions? Please try reproducing the issue. In case system hangs continue, please create a Premier issue so that additional diagnostic information can be requested from you to triage the issue.
