vtune-gui on freshly installed Ubuntu 24.04 does not start

I installed VTune as part of the Toolkit and tried to start vtune-gui. It displayed the splash screen and then hung up. No messages, nothing, not a sausage.

This also happened on Fedora Desktop (43) which I attributed to the removal of X11. That is why I switched back to Ubuntu. I would use it remotely from a Windows system if I could untangle the knot of profiler stuff to install on the target  system. I have root/administrator access on both systems.

There is talk down in the weeds about building and installing sampling drivers but I don't see this stuff up front. Nothing turns up running the VTune selfcheck script.

Thank you very much! Are you aware that VTune can be downloaded separately from the oneAPI bundle? You can find it here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/oneapi/vtune-profiler-download.html. Version 2025.10.1 most likely contains the fix for the issue we discussed.

Thank you for this feedback. We've identified that an automatic update of the electron.js component introduced this regression on certain operating systems. The GUI test failures slipped through our OS compatibility matrix, and our current recommendation is to use version 2025.9. We have confirmed that VTune Profiler GUI will function normally in the next public release.

Thanks. Which installation package does 2025.9 refer to? The standalone VTune install goes up to 2025.4 or so.

I'll roll it back one version at a time until it works. I've installed this in Fedora Desktop 43 then Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and two old Windows boxes so I'm getting faster at it

Expect great things from this. Thanks from retired guy looking for useful stuff to contribute.
