“Every morning when I meet with my team to discuss my progress, I come to the realization that my little part plays a huge role in making the next possibility in technology, possible. It’s a WONDERFUL feeling.”While I have been a resident of the United States since 2011, I am a Nigerian native, and I recently completed my BS in Computer Engineering with a robotics minor from Georgia Institute of Technology and now working towards my doctorate. As an active member of the Center for Engineering Education and Diversity (CEED), I was awarded the Intel Scholarship and presented with various internship opportunities. I was also presented other opportunities within Intel as an Intel-sponsored GEM Recipient.
During my internship I was positioned with the Autonomous Driving Group (ADG) as a software engineer in Chandler, AZ. My project—as hot as Chandler at mid-day—mostly involved contributing to the team’s efforts on the latest AD toolkits for Intel and MobilEye’s self-driving technology efforts.
Be ready to learn—and equally expect to meaningfully contribute—way more than could have imagined.
One of the most insightful takeaways from my experience at Intel is the ability to take ownership of my efforts and to ask for help when hitting a roadblock. I chose to intern with Intel for many reasons including the desire to challenge myself on new, industry-leading technology. I was also attracted to the great work culture in the company that translates across all levels, right from the CEO down to the newest intern.
