Intel has become one of only three companies in Ireland to have achieved the Business Working Responsibly Mark for the sixth time. This is a voluntary undertaking to be assessed at the highest standard of responsible business audit in Ireland.
The Business Working Responsibly Mark, run by Business in the Community Ireland, is the leading standard for sustainability in Ireland. It includes a rigorous audit-based assessment, renewed every three years, that fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ongoing accountability, and leadership. The Mark is third-party verified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland.
Companies that seek to achieve the Mark are required to complete an audit that includes a suite of indicators covering all four pillars of economics, environmental, social and governance.
Within each indicator, companies are required to demonstrate their performance using both an environmental and a social lens.
Intel Ireland was amongst the first companies in Ireland to achieve the Mark when it was introduced in 2011 and today marks the company's fifth recertification. This achievement means that Intel is among a very small number of companies in Ireland to have successfully completed six cycles of audit and certification for the past 15 years.
Intel Ireland Factory Manager Joe English reflected on the achievement, “Intel’s commitment to our communities, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability is foundational to who we are as a company and is something that is deeply integrated throughout all aspects of our business. Achieving the Business Working Responsibly Mark is a proud acknowledgement for us of our ongoing commitment to doing the right things the right way”.
Tomas Sercovich, CEO of Business in the Community Ireland, added, "We congratulate Intel for being recertified to the Business Working Responsibly Mark for the 6th time. Over the years, Intel have consistently proven their leadership and commitment to sustainability. Their RISE strategy has long been famous as a best-in-class example of a sustainability strategy embedded into business functions. In carrying out the objectives of the global strategy, Intel has demonstrated excellent community engagement, facilitating open social dialogue with members of the community in which they operate".
