Located in the west of Ireland is the Intel Shannon team, who deliver network transformation and cloud computing that is transforming our connected world. A number of Intel Shannon employees are part of Intel's Network and Edge (NEX) group.

The NEX Power Engineering Team, led by Chris MacNamara, was recently recognised for their outstanding work on Infrastructure Power Management (IPM), winning the 2025 itag Excellence Award for Sustainability.

IPM was designed to optimise CPU power consumption without compromising performance, leveraging Intel processor telemetry and power management features to dynamically adjust power use in real time. Resulting in power savings of 30-40% over 24 hours and leading to significantly reduced waste and lower operational costs.

Itag (Innovation Technology AtlanTec Gateway) is a non-profit industry association based in Galway, Ireland, dedicated to supporting and promoting the technology sector in the region. The itag Excellence Award for Sustainability Tech Company of the Year, recognises an initiative that demonstrates a commitment to sustainability, with a focus on long-term benefits that impact on customers and wider society.
