Community groups and their members are the backbone of local towns and villages across Ireland. This is especially true here in Leixlip, where a vibrant mix of community-based groups can be found.
Intel is proud to have a longstanding relationship with many of these groups and has proudly supported their work for over thirty years.
Intel recently had the opportunity to support Leixlip United AFC, a long-standing local football club that plays its home games just across the road from the Intel campus in the Leixlip Amenities Centre grounds.
The group was founded in 1969 and for over 55 years has been at the heart of the community, providing opportunities from Academy level all the way up to Senior Women, Senior Men, and Over 35's. The club provides an important outlet for its many members to develop skills, build confidence, and become part of a team.
With an ever-growing membership base, the group is focused on enhancing the club facilities. Intel was delighted to get involved in this effort by sponsoring a new cabin space and facilitating its installation and build. The sponsorship from Intel was specifically supported by the Fab Construction Enterprise (FCE) group, which manages a portfolio of construction projects across Intel’s worldwide network. The cabin was installed by Duffy Contractors.
The cabin unit will provide changing facilities for home and away teams and office space to be used to support club administration.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Intel’s Construction Manager Alan Stafford said, “Leixlip United AFC is such an integral part of the community here in Leixlip, and its doors have been open to many—young and old—for over 50 years. It was our pleasure to support the group on this project and to help them enhance their club’s facilities. I hope this unit will serve them well for many more decades to come.”
