Meet Basanta Patra, Technical Solution Engineer, and one of the mentors in our Intel® Liftoff Program. Basanta is a skilled Developer with a keen interest in optimization and deployment of AI/ML workload using Intel libraries and frameworks on Intel platforms. He has been with the company for the past 6 years.
With a primary focus on Intel® oneAPI Base toolkit, Intel® optimised PyTorch and Tensorflow, and OpenVINO toolkit, Basant is looking forward to collaborating with current and future members of the program and assisting in enabling solutions on Intel Architecture and cultivating the potential of upcoming innovators.
We sat down with him to get to know him a bit better and unpack his passion for AI and paving the way for the next generation of innovators.
Basanta’s Top Tip for AI Startups
When it comes to his top tip for AI startups to consider at the beginning of their journey, his formula is simple, yet impactful. “Come with an idea, develop with Intel software and hardware stack, and scale out worldwide using Intel channels.”
On reflecting on a meaningful moment he experienced as a mentor, he recalls working with an Intel partner as part of the Liftoff program and seeing how quickly the partner enabled their solution on Intel software and hardware stack, and in doing so, completely exceeded their own expectations. In addition to that, the partner was able to give suggestions on how some areas of the developer experience could be further improved.
Basant believes that his personal Intel experience assisted him on his mentor journey. “After gaining experience through various Intel software and hardware stacks, I can recommend the software and hardware best suited for partners' requirements and help them quickly resolve any problems they’re experiencing through enabling their solution on Intel platforms.”
