Part of our ongoing work at Intel is to connect with IT datacenter managers and infrastructure architects to offer training and advice for how to solve modern business challenges and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) across cloud environments. Recently, we participated in the Cloud Field Day industry event with Stephen Foskett from Gestalt IT, along with several industry partners. At the event, Intel presented two topics that are available to watch on-demand.

Simplify the Journey to and Across Clouds with Intel

Hosted by Intel Senior Principal Engineer Madhu Rangarajan, this presentation covers building on open standards with fully optimized software and security from the hardware up the stack. Whether you choose to deploy or migrate on-prem, multi-cloud, through communications networks, or on the intelligent edge, doing so on consistent, trusted, open experience allows you to scale-up and out with ease as workloads evolve.

Driving Innovation in Cloud Storage with Intel Optane Technology

Hosted by Senior Principal Engineer Allison Goodman and Product Lead Vivek Sarathy, this presentation covers the rise of disaggregated cloud storage for building out additional storage for workloads that rely on larger and larger datasets, such as data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), content delivery network (CDN), and e-commerce. Moving from local to remote storage is cost effective but creates an IO cliff of bandwidth and performance without critical hardware. Allison and Vivek explore how a select number of cloud customers have deployed 100GbE+ networking and Optane memory and storage in order to achieve the needed scale efficiencies while still maintaining fast performance and dependable latencies.

Further Presentations

Cloud Field Day 11 feature several other presentations worth watching, including discussions about hybrid cloud management, Kubernetes, combating ransomware, disaster recovery, and more. I’m excited for Intel to join future Tech Field Days and look forward to the wealth of industry knowledge that continues to be shared.
