How can I transmit H264 compression data over 1GB Ethernet port?

Hello

In my embedded project, I intend to use 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Haswell Processor with Integrated HD Graphics 4600 for the H264 compression. I'm willing to use the wired GbE communication, in order to transmit the compressed data to a desktop PC.

My question is. What is the recommended protocol for this mission? Can I use a standard protocol, so it can be viewed directly through a VLC viewer?  (i.e. No storage in the middle).

By the way, the video source is a Colored Bayer CCD Camera received as a GigE vision go through a De-Bayer process and as I said compressed (H264) by using the Integrated HD Graphics 4600.

Thanks a lot.

Yoram Ben-Haim.

H264 is one the the native Haswell compression formats. Make sure you keep format right. Refer Haswell documentation. Best of luck.
