WGI210AT (I210) flash-less (NVM-less) OS Memory Resources Issue

Hi everyone,

We used WGI210AT to design a NIC and wanted to remove an external flash.

I programmed 'I210_Invm_Copper_NoAPM_v0.6' to the I210 using the Lanconf_1.38.10.0. I did a power cycle after programming.

I couldn't connect Internet and couldn't see the NIC in a Windows10 "Network Connections".

I noted a warning mark on the network adaptor in the Windows10 Device Manager. I installed the latest Windows Drivers, but it didn't help.

I checked the NIC using the Lanconf_1.38.10.0 and it showed the following message.

When I push the Enter key, it showed the following.

And I checked the OS memory resources which was the following.

I tested a WGI211 with the same PCBA with 'I211_Invm_NoAPM_v0.6.txt'. And this board worked well, and I saw the Memory resource was different.

Thanks for reading and please provide any comments or ideas.

Kind regards,
Insu

Hello @Insu-ATI,

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

I looked for this error and could be tied to the tool version.

TOOLS\Winx64\OEM_Mfg and run the install.bat

You mentioned that you tried with the latest drivers but I'm sharing it just in case too.

Hi Diego,

Thanks for the comments.

I tried the drivers you shared, but it didn't work.

And I tried the tools you shared, and I couldn't program the chip. It printed "Adapter initialization failed.". Please find below the capture, FYI.

I'm not sure whether I can reprogram the iNVM. Because some memory region is OTP.

Thanks for the help and let me know if you have any comments.

Kind regards,

Insu

Hello @Insu-ATI,

I was investigating further and it seems that this may happen when it is used an invalid MAC address when programming the iNVM.

I think the only solution is to try with another card.

Best regards,
