Hi Processor Forum,
I am trying to determine the difference between two ATOM (E3845) processors; FH8065301487717S R1X6 and FH8065301487717S R3UT. I've tried researching these processors on Intel's website and was able to find this page:
The Ordering and Compliance (the "Ordering and spec information") section shows these two ICs (SR1X6 and SR3UT) but don't describe the differences between these parts.
I also downloaded the Atom E3800 Family datasheet but these parts aren't compared in that document.
Finally, I opened a case with Intel's Customer Service but they referred me to Intel's Support Forums. I'm hoping this forum can help clarify the differences between these two processors.

Thanks for your quick reply. I see on that webpage that SR1XG is Stepping D0 and SR3UT is Stepping D1. But I don't understand what that means. Would you please elaborate on the differences between these two ICs?

May I ask you for the same information about SR1X6 and SR3UT?
Because these are two CPUs with the same Ordering Code but different Spec Code and Stepping - are they interchangeable SR3UT in place of previous SR1X6 and the other way as well; only one way: SR3UT in place of SR1X6; not all the times (what determines this?) or not at all?
I assume that meaning of the stepping is: newer revision (Stepping) is always a better/corrected version of the previous one and fully compatible with previous iteration so you can always use a CPU with higher two-character letter+number marking (Stepping) despite a different Spec Code and even an Ordering Code. I assume that within the list linked below you can replace:
a) SR1RE with SR1X6 and SR3UT - resulting in guaranteed full compatibility and no downsides;
b) SR1X6 with SR3UT - full compatibility and no downsides
c) SR1X6 with SR1RE and SR3UT with either SR1RE or SR1X6 - where 1. they should be all compatible, but If a newer iteration gained some feature, you will miss that feature and 2. if there was a known hardware bug or inefficiency in the older iteration - you will now deal with them (possible shorter lifespan etc.).

Yes, you are correct, they are the same processor and they should share the same pins and layout, the only difference is that, in more recent Steppings, they sometimes include fixes but generally all steppings are usable without issues.
In this case, the latest Stepping is D1, SR3UT.
