Hello, @Gino :
Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.
In case that you disable a function, its features are not available. Due to this fact, once you disable HPET, there is no a periodic timer, seven one-shots (total eight comparators). There is no improved resolutions and reduced overheat. Also, there is no fewer interrupts to CPU. You can confirm these features in section 3.15, on page 86 of the Intel(R) Pentium(TM) and Celeron(R) Processor N- and J- Series [Formerly Apollo Lake] External Design Specification [EDS] - Volume 1 of 4 document # 557555. This document is available when you are logged into your Resource and Design Center (RDC) privileged account to the following website:
https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/557555
Your RDC account update to privileged should be processed by filling out the form stated at:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/forms/design/contact-support.html
We hope that this information is useful to you.
