Looking for x6000 processors for safety-critical embedded systems

Hello,

I am a newcomer to Intel processors for embedded systems and I would like to learn a bit about the x6000 family (especially x6427FE and x6200FE), which may be suitable for some development projects I work with.

In order to get started, I have a few questions:

- Is there any sort of longevity program for these processors, so that supply is assured for a decade or the like?

- Where are their datasheets available?

- Are there development boards to give them a try in a bare-metal environment?

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hello @rbedin,

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

As an introduction to the processors of a family, we have the Gold Deck, in this case, for Elkhart Lake, you can look in RDC for the document #606615 - Elkhart Lake Platform - Gold Deck.

Regarding your questions:

1) Yes, this is shared in the Gold Deck: "Product availability guidance typically extends up to 10 years. If needed, Hardware Product Availability may be extended up to 15 Years using the NEX IOT Edge Supplemental Product SKU (SPS) Process.".

2) You can find most of the documentation regarding Elkhart Lake in the following link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/platforms/details/elkhart-lake/docs.html

There are some Public documents like this Datasheet:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/content-details/636112/intel-atom-x6000e-series-and-intel-pentium-and-celeron-n-and-j-series-processors-for-iot-applications-datasheet-volume-1.html

But you will need a Premier account to access some other documentation that will be important when you design with this family.

You can check the following article to apply for a Premier account.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058073/programs/resource-and-documentation-center.html

3) Yes, we have some Reference Boards, you will need to contact an Intel Sales Representative to get further help to getting one.

You may check this link to find one of the Distributor Partners near your zone.

Hi Diego,

Thanks for your answers! I am afraid I have a number of rather silly questions before I go forward...

1) Is the Gold Deck accessible only for Premier users? I could not find it in RDC and I am trying to find out if my company has a CNDA in place with Intel.

2) Thanks for the link to the datasheet. While taking a first look at it, I wondered which interfaces I am supposed to use if I am to connect the processor to an external Flash and to an FPGA. Any recommendations?

3) How do I contact a sales representative to get acquainted with available reference design boards and their documentation/toolset?

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hello @Diego_INTEL ,

I think this topic has got lost. How may I contact an Intel sales rep to get information about reference design boards?

Thanks!

Hello @rbedin,

My apologies for the late reply, thank you for the reminder.

1) Yes, the Gold Deck needs a CNDA to get access.

2) Regarding FPGA, you may try asking in the FPGA community, we don't provide support for it, I'm not sure what I can recommend, my apologies.

3) You may try looking for any of the Distributor Partners near your zone using the following link, there, you may ask for an Intel Sales Representative.
