Xeon D 2163

We are considering Xeon D 2163 in place of Xeon D 1559 since 2163 is a newer device. However the power consumption in 2163 is more than our system power budget. In order to reduce power, can I operate 2163 at lower frequency than 2.1Ghz?

Is there any document or tool available  to  check possible options of reduction in power, based on  reduction in base frequency, Number of cores and number of peripherals  ?

Hello, @Jinto:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

The part number that you have mentioned in the subject of this thread is unrelated to an Intel device.

In case that you refer to the Intel(R) Xeon(R) D-2163IT Processor, could you please clarify the guidelines or technical suggestions and the sources where they are stated that you are following to do the migration design mentioned on your previous message?

We are waiting for your answer.

Best regards,

@CarlosAM_INTEL.

Its not migration of existing design to Xeon D 2163IT.  We were considering Xeon D 1559 for a new design which is about to start. We are evaluating Xeon D 2163IT as well since its newer device.

However the power consumption of  Xeon D 2163IT is more than our system power budget. In order to reduce power, can I operate Xeon D 2163IT at lower frequency than 2.1Ghz? Ideally we want to keep power consumption nearly 40Watts. We may not use all 4x 10G ports. We need only 2 of 10G ports. We also may not use all 32 lanes of PCIe.

Is there any document or tool available  to  check possible options of reduction in power, based on  reduction in base frequency, Number of cores and number of peripherals  ?
