1000Base-T1

Dear All,

For an application, I am looking for Ethernet ports comply with 1000Base-T1 standard (automotive Ethernet).

This board will be used under Linux Ubuntu 18.04 and 22.04.

It seems, there are no PCIe cards directly offering 1000Base-T1 ports.  We have to go through a card with SFP ports and use 1000Base-T1 Ethernet SFP module.

For information:

Currently, wer tried with Intel XL710 (driver Linux i40e) with SFP module Technica TE-1440 (recent version with marvell chipset 88Q2112)

However, we encounter the following problem:

  • Linux has the driver for the SFP T1 phy cartridge (marvell-88q2xxx)
  • The XL710 Ethernet card does not provide access to the I2C link:

It is the internal FPGA that takes control of the I2C com (from what we understand)

We do not know of any Ethernet card/chipset reference that allows direct I2C access and that allows Linux to load its own driver.

Do you have suggestion of PCIe card complies with 1000Base-T1 ?

Best REgards

Arnaud
