I am using an 82574 to implement second GigE port in an embedded design and this port does not need to come up with the system when the power is turned on. My plan is to program the 82574 through the PCIe interface once the system is up and running. I am wondering if I still need the serial EEPROM connected to the 82574? My thinking is that I don't.
