Documentation request for I225-LMvP

I would like to get this card behaving in a stable manner across a wider range of the Linux footprint but I cannot find documentation for it anywhere. Also, it seems that its firmware is not released to the public but (possibly) only to OEM's. Can anyone direct me in the right direction? I cant sign an NDA because releasing an opensource driver for it would surely violate it...

Hi Vikas, thank you for taking the time to reply. I was unable to really find any resolution to this issue. It seems that Intel never released the documentation to the public unhindered by an NDA.

At least that was what appears to be the case. If I am incorrect I would love a copy of the I-225 documentation!

Hello iosentry,

Good day to you,

As you are already aware, the documentations (Example: datasheet, design considerations) related to I225 is not publicly available unless you have an NDA in place.

Only the MDDS is available publicly but that would not address anything related to your request.

Thank You & Best Regards,

Thank you for replying and verifying that as well.

That chipset apparently has some bugs (possibly design considerations) as it seems to be the very lowest entry level product in that particular family of gigabit cards. This is why the documentation is needed as it doesn't behave well with the igc network interface driver currently in the Linux kernel and its due to some of these differences.

It doesnt even really seem like Intel expected that chipset to actually sell that well as they didnt even provide any firmware for it like they did for the rest of that family of products.

What has apparently taken place is that the chipset actually did sell rather well though. Lenovo used it in their thunderbolt docking stations, Asus used it in some rteleases of their ROG laptop lines etc. This is the cause of the friction really. People having to purchase and use external netwoirk adapters for their laptops because the internal card wont stay connected to the bus is.... frustrating to say the least.
