Hello,

we are running a PPPoE Access Server and were hoping to see improvements by using RSS over RPS to distribute PPPoE traffic across multiple CPU Cores. According to Intel® Ethernet Controller E800 Series Dynamic Device Personalization (DDP) Technology Guide Rev. 3.6 January 2026 loading the enhanced DDP Comms Package enables support for RSS for GTP and PPPoE.

We loaded the DDP Comms Package like so:

We are testing using iperf3 with multiple parallel streams on another device, which is connected to the Access Server via PPPoE, against a second Server, which is connected via IP to the Access Server:

Test Device <-- Ethernet --> Access Server <-- Ethernet --> Second Server
Iperf3 Client <-- PPPoE --> PPPoE & NAT <-- IP --> Iperf3 Server

However we still see only RX Queue 0 being utilized:

# ethtool -S enp1s0f0np0

Is RSS for GTP and/or PPPoE only supported by DPDK? So loading the DDP Comms package while still using the ice driver has no effect?

Hello Vik3,

there is no SSD. This is about an E810 Netword Card

Hello jwal1,

Thank you for writing back to us.

May I know whether your concern is related to the built‑in network controller on the motherboard or a separately purchased PCIe network adapter?

Also, please help us by providing the SSU log. You may refer to the link below for instructions on how to collect it:
