I have two computers with the same motherboard (MSI Z790 Ace Max) and CPU (Intel 14900K) and both of them installed with the Ubuntu server 24.04 LTS (kernel: 6.8.0-45-generic). When I was installing the OS, I need an external ethernet card because the Ubuntu installer could not auto-receive IP from router (ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000) despite that the IGC driver was already built in Linux kernel. After I installed and updated the system by external ethernet card, the internet interface (ip a) could show the physical LAN port with name (enp[x]s0). One of my computer is displaying enp5s0 (upper LAN port on MB) and enp6s0 (lower LAN port on MB) and another is enp6s0 (upper LAN port on MB) and enp7s0 (lower LAN port on MB). When I plugin my ethernet cable to the port which named enp6s0, the internet connection works well. While I use the LAN port named enp5s0 and enp7s0, the Ubuntu system cannot connect to my router neither using DHCP or static IP. Also, when the computer power off, the light showing the LAN port working are all flashing (works well). However, when the Ubuntu system start to run, the light of enp5s0 and enp7s0 LAN port on different computer stop flashing and the LAN port not work. Despite both computers can connect to router now, this situation seemed very weird. I think there may exist code error in the Linux IGC driver. Or, can anyone give me a reasonable explanation?

Hello tom29510136,
Thank you for your reply.
As you have confirmed that the issue does not occur with the latest version of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installer, this might have been an issue with the LTS installer version itself. As the DHCP and the LAN ports are functioning correctly now, kindly let us know if we can close the thread for now.
And thank you for sharing resolution as it will help us greatly in troubleshooting similar issues.
