first of all im totally new with the SFP+ Cable.
i try to connect my Dlink DGS 1210 48 Switch with the Intel X520-2 Adapter on the Fileserve with an http://www.10gtek.com/10G-SFP+-Copper-Twinax-cable-3-Meters--passive-135.html 3M SFP+ Cables|10GbE SFP+ Cable|Cisco/HP/H3C Compatible|CAB-10GSFP-P3M ordered with the Intel standard XDACBL3M
The Dlink Switch has an Amber Light from at the Connection-Port ( in the Manual there is no amber status for this slot but nvm there is ANY light)
The Fileserver Adapter says "no network cable pluged". i tried to install a new driver from Intel but nothing happens. So i plugged the beginning and the End of the cable into the Intel Adapter and finally all the lights going to blink and the status switch to connected..
After some massiv abuse of Google i stumbled over all sort of Standards and every manufacture has its own, thats why you can buy dlink cables and intel cables and cisco and netgear and so on...
So my Situation is i cant set up anything on the Dlink Side at this Ports (enable or disable) and there is an amber light blink.. on the other side the Cable works with the Intel Adapter..
i searched for cables from Intel to Dlink Standards.. and just found one windy reseller in another country that have this sort of cable. So i think that is not the standard to get a workaround to this Dilema. So i want to ask what is the common workaround for this Problem ? Do IT Department wire the cable for themself or is there an Adapter or Software Solution ?
thank you for helping me out.
Thank you for posting in Wired Communities. The Dlink 1210 48 port is a Gigabit switch. X520-DA2 is a 10 Gigabit network adapter. The X520-DA2 is a 10 Gigabit network adapter supports Gigabit speed if uses fiber optical connection. If you are using Direct attach cable (SFP+) the network speed support is 10 Gbps. Please refer to :
1) X520-DA2 product brief below on page 4, it stated the data rate supported and the :
2) The SFP+ Modules, SFP Modules, and Cables Compatible with Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X520 Series
Checking on the Dlink switch port, it has SFP (Gigabit speed) port but not SFP+ (10 Gigabit port). Please see below the technical specification of the Dlink switch if this is your switch model:
You may also double check with Dlink support if they have any recommended network adapter and cable for their switch.
Please do let me know if further assistance needed. Have you contacted Dlink support already? Please feel free to update me. Thank you.
thanks for your support. i missed that the D Link wasnt able to support SFP+. I just ordered a new switch: https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-switching/unifi-switch-2448/ https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-switching/unifi-switch-2448/

i just testet to connect the Intel SFP+ Adapter with the cable i mentioned with the QNAP TS-1673U but i guess the QNAP doesnt support the Intel cable so i will get another one and hope that the switch doesnt have the issue with different SFP+ Standards...
i will update if i got more information.
Thank you for the update. You may refer to the list of validated cable for X520 in website below
Hope to hear good news from you.
