Testing NIC210 with an external loopback over a switch fails at 1Gbit link but works with 10/100Mbit Link. The switch is an IP that we own and is synthesized on our fpga. The NIC210 is connectet to one of three ports on that switch. The other two ports are phisically linked with each other.
Because at very first attempts with the Combined End of Line Tool for the Intel(R) Adapters” (CELO) the external loopback allways failed, we reduced switch buffer sizes and 10/100Mbit passed.
To me this looks somehow to a time-out issue but trying to reduce switch-buffersizes even more did not improve the test result for 1Gbit Link. The 1Gbit link and data-lines are fine, it is really only the test that fails. We tested that.
Execution from our embedded-linux system:
./celo64e /NIC=1 /EXTLB {500,500,0,0,0,0} #This test pass
./celo64e /NIC=1 /EXTLB {500,500,500,0,0,0} #This test fails
What is the time-out the CELO external loopback-test is waiting for? What could be the cause of this failing test?
Greetings, Tom
