(No connection detected .... No driver installed.)
My computer : Dell Inc. Precision T1650 running Win10 in French (Canada)
with Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
For the last two months, Intel software assistant signals I should update the driver.
When I try to install the proposed driver, "Installation a échoué" (Installation failed) is reported. Same results, four times at various dates.

I have been facing the same issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (model 2324-3RU) with Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection.
The Intel Driver & Support Assistant app keeps notifying me that there is an Update Available for the Intel Network Adapter Driver. When I click the Install Now button, it brings up this URL in my browser:
(see attached screenshot)
However, choosing to Install the update from there always downloads and runs an installer that eventually exits with the message, "No Intel Network Connections found on this computer. No drivers were installed." This same result also occurs if I download the installer file to extract and run manually, "Wired_driver_29.3_x64.zip"
The first time this occurred, there were two updates available, that one and also "Wired_PROSet_29.3_x64.zip", which installed successfully; however, the other update still fails to install anything.
Curiously, I have also noticed the Intel Driver & Support Assistant background app no longer auto-launches on startup in my Win10 Admin account, but it does still auto-launch on startup in the regular User account I use day-to-day, and I can't figure out how/where to disable this, aside from completely uninstalling the app.
EDIT: I found another thread here on a similar issue advising the poster to run the Intel System Support Utility to generate a report of system details, so I have now done that and have appended my SSU report here.

I have the same issue.
Further research: It seems the Installer is buggy and not tested recently with Intel® 82579LM.
The Intel® 82579LM 12.15.31.4 Gigabit Ethernet driver is contained in e1c65x64.sys file in the Release_29.3.1\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS65 directory.
To install manually I did the following:
0. Download https://downloadmirror.intel.com/832330/Release_29.3.1.zip
1. Go to Release_29.3.1\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS65
2. Right click on e1c65x64.inf and select "install"
3. Open Device Manager, Select Intel® 82579LM, open the Driver tab and select Update Driver.
4. Select Browse My Computer for driver, enter the path to 29.3.1\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS65 folder.
5. Select "Let me pick from a list of avalaible drivers on my computer"
6. Scroll to the bottom to find the new driver:
