Question About IP Core Licensing and Timeout

Hello,

I am using the following version of Quartus Prime:

Quartus Prime Version 20.1.0 Build 711 06/05/2020 SJ Lite Edition

I would like to confirm how I can check whether the IP Cores I am using have any time-based operational restrictions due to licensing.

I read in the official documentation (Intel IP Cores Licenses) that if an IP Core has a time-limited license, the generated .sof file should contain "time_limited" in its name. However, in my case, the generated file does not contain this indication. Does this guarantee that the IPs are running without time restrictions?

The IPs I am using in my project are:

  • IP Compiler for PCI Express
  • SDRAM Controller Intel FPGA IP
  • System ID Peripheral Intel FPGA IP
  • Avalon-MM Clock Crossing Bridge
  • PIO (Parallel I/O) Intel FPGA IP
  • Avalon to Intel Bridge
  • Interval Timer Intel FPGA IP
  • ALTPLL

I appreciate your support!

Best regards,

José Augusto Arbugeri

Hello Jarbugeri,

Time limited duration will be visible in IP Evaluation Time Limit Messages. So you may refer to that. But most of our IP expired after an hour.

Hello Jarbugeri,

Good day to you.

If you're not seeing time_limited.sof after full compilation, then the IP isn't time limited.

Hope that answer your question.

Hello Pavee,

Thank you for your response, that answers my question.

I just have one last doubt. Regarding the time_limited IPs, all the ones I checked seem to have a 1-hour limit. Is this the standard time for all time-limited IPs, or can it vary depending on the IP Core?

Best regards,
