TCP/IP 1Gbit/s - How?

Hello,

is there a possibility for creating a system based on the Cyclone III which is able to transmit TCP/IP data packets with a speed of 1GBit/s?

I guess that a NIOS would be to slowly for do this task, or wouldn't it?

Or does a component for the SOPC builder exists, which is able to send TCP/IP data packets direktly?

Thanks for your assistance!

Best regards,

It will be extremely difficult. For UDP you could use custom hardware to handle the packets , but for TCP it is a lot harder.

If you do it by software the Nios CPU is way too slow. You'd better look for a dedicated CPU

Ok, thanks for your valuation! I think I'll try to use an IP-Core and send on MAC layer... (http://dict.leo.org/ende?lp=ende&p=ci4ho3kmaa&search=valuation&trestr=0x8001)
