Agilex 7 - How to use ASx4 so QSPI is accessible via the MAX10 SDM mailbox.

Hi,

We have an Agilex-7 board and would like to have access to the QSPI.  The MAX10 SDM mailbox has a set of commands that allows the QSPI to be accessed but only if the configuration scheme/mode is AS x4.

We have been successful programming POF files configured for AV-STx8, but ASx4 is not working.

Building an SOF with configuration scheme for AS x4 works.

Creating a POF file with the SOF bitstream and u-boot hex using AS x4 configuration mode works.

Setting SW2 to AS x4 configuration mode okay.

Attempting to program the QSPI with the POF is not working now.  Need help!  Maybe an explanation of all the steps necessary to use the Agilex-7 HPS in ASx4 mode.

Thanks,

Kiebach

Hi Kiebach,

Could you describe the symptoms or any error messages? A few important points to consider:

  • If you’re using QSPI flash, ensure the serial or quad SPI flash reset pin is connected to the AS_nRST pin. The SDM must fully control the QSPI reset, so avoid connecting the quad SPI reset pin to any external host.
  • For AS x4 configuration mode, set AS_CLK to 166 MHz, and use a Micron QSPI flash memory device within the 2 Gb density range.

For further details, please refer to the configuration user guide: [https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/813320?fileName=ug-ag-config-683673-813320.pdf].
