Putty Terminal Output not correct

​Hi, I wrote this code so that I could display the number on putty which is being represented by LEDS on my Cyclone V board. The leds on board are working perfectly fine. But the output on my putty terminal is not working. For example, if I type ./program_name 8 then it will display §§§ or just 173. Any ideas where is the error?

Can you look at the baud rate setting ? May I know which FPGA you are using in your design ? Also can share the FPGA design file ?
