Altera's video framework includes many reference designs running on various kits. Below is the list of available designs with brief summary:
Video Example Design
- The Altera video and image processing example design demonstrates dynamic scaling and clipping of a standard definition video stream in either NTSC or PAL format and picture-inpicture mixing with a background layer. The video stream is output in high definition resolution (1024×768) over a digital video interface (DVI).
- This design is fully verified on the Cyclone III Video development kit.
- Two-channel up/down/cross conversion: Polyphase scaling, motion adaptive deinterlacing, mixing, and frame-rate conversion for resolutions up to 1080p
- Deinterlacing has option to do cadence detect and pull down, low angle edge interpolation and low latency mode
- SDI or DVI input interlaced, and progressive support
- DVI/HDMI and SDI out, support for progressive and interlaced output
- Mixer to allow multiviewer
- On-screen display for logos and text overlay
- Active format description extraction and insertion
- Software configurable to speed up design cycles
- High-speed DDR3 memory interfaces
- Demonstration on Stratix® IV GX Audio Video Development kit
Format Conversion Reference Design (V1) - no longer support, please use UDX
- Two-channel up/down/cross conversion: Polyphase scaling, motion adaptive deinterlacing, mixing, and frame-rate conversion for resolutions up to 1080p
- SDI input (sd/hd/3g-SDI), interlaced, and progressive support
- DVI out, support for 480p/720p/1080p (run-time configurable)
- Software configurable to speed up design cycles
- High-speed DDR2 memory interfaces
- Demonstration on Stratix® II GX Audio Video Development kit
Format Conversion Reference Design (V2) - no longer support, please use UDX
- Two-channel up/down/cross conversion: Polyphase scaling, motion adaptive deinterlacing, mixing, and frame-rate conversion for resolutions up to 1080p
- SDI input (SD/HD/3G-SDI), interlaced, and progressive support
- SDI output, support for interlaced and progressive outputs
- Software configurable to speed up design cycles
- High-speed DDR2 memory interfaces
- Demonstration on Stratix® II GX Audio Video Development Kit and Arria® II GX Audio Video Development Kit
