Hi Intel Community,
I’m setting up a small web utility (for example, a gratuity/end-of-service benefits calculator for UAE users) and I’m planning to host it on a compact Intel device like an Intel NUC or mini PC right on-premises. Before I finalize, I want to make sure my setup is efficient and reliable.
Here’s what I’m considering and where your insights would help:
Using Intel NUC with Ubuntu or Windows Server to host small REST APIs, JSON configs, user logs etc.
Ensuring minimal CPU / memory overhead so the tool doesn’t slow down.
Using Intel hardware optimizations (e.g. Intel distribution packages, hardware acceleration) for faster performance.
Balancing SSD I/O and caching to reduce wear / latency.
Securing server ports, SSL, firewall setup when serving public API endpoints.
If anyone has experience running small web services or microtools on Intel hardware (NUC, mini PCs, etc.), I’d love to know:
What spec / config you used (RAM / CPU / OS)
Bottlenecks you encountered (I/O, temperature, network)
Any tuning tips (caching, swaps, power settings)
Thanks in advance — your feedback will help
me choose better hardware.

Intel no longer manufactures NUC or mini PCs. That business has been transferred to ASUS. Plus, there are a number of other manufacturers out there.
Also, I fail to see how your question regarding NUCs is any different for ANY other PC, or how your development even involves NUCs
You may want to take your question to some other forum, like toms hardware.
