Hey, My intel desktop board DH61BE does not boot into any operating system it just freezes when it try's to boot, and it wont do a bios update and i have tried EVERYTHING I used the jumper and took it out completely to recover the BIOS and it just doesn't POST. When I put the jumper to pins 2-3 it goes right into the BIOS menu, I've been stuck for 2 WEEKS.

Also this happened when I updated the BIOS to 0099 and when I changed to an I7 3700K from an intel core I3 2100

First of all, the only 3rd gen Core i7 K processor that is supported by the BE board is the i7-3770K. Is this what you have?

When we are talking about the i7-3770K, you have to have at least the -206 revision of the board to support it. Look for the sticker on the board that provides the board's serial number and AA number. Your board's AA number is G14062-**bleep**, where **bleep** is the revision. If the revision is earlier (numerically lower) than -206, then you cannot use the i7-3770K processor with it.

There is also an i7-2700K; is that perhaps what you have? If so, you can use it with any revision of the BE board.

Ok, did the system operate properly with BIOS 99 and the Core i3-2100? Check this if you are not sure. If it is working with the i3-2100 and not working with the i7-3770K and the revision is -206 or better (numerically higher), something is seriously wrong.

Have you can get to BIOS Setup, try disabling XMP. You could also try removing all but one of the DIMMs and test with this one DIMM inserted into each of the various memory sockets.

Regarding the BIOS Recovery process, here are some notes on process and requirements:

  • Ensure that the USB flash drive that you are using is an older model designed for USB 2.0 (not USB 3.0!). It must be smaller than 32GB, and that it has been slow-formatted with the FAT32 file system. This is best done, on another Windows PC, using the Windows built-in format tool. That is, in File Manager, right-click on the entry for the USB flash drive and select "Format...". In the dialog that is presented, ensure that FAT32 is selected as the file system and that Quick Format is unchecked. You can then click on "Start" to begin the format process.
  • Once you have the drive formatted, you can copy the .BIO file that you wish to install into the root folder of the flash drive. This is a simple drag and drop operation. Once this is done, properly close the flash drive by right-clicking on the entry in File Manager and selecting "Eject".
  • On the BE system, power off and remove the (yellow) BIOS Configuration jumper. Insert the flash drive into a black USB 2.0 port on the back panel of the motherboard. Do not use USB 3.0 ports (support is hit or miss for BIOS Recovery). Do not use USB ports on USB hubs (not supported). Do not use front panel USB ports of any kind (cabling for these ports can be damaged or incorrectly connected internally).
  • Power on the BE system. It should automatically detect the USB flash drive and begin loading the BIOS image and installing the various components.

Hope this helps,

Hey, Thanks for replying! Before I switched to the i7 3700K I did everything you listed, I used a 8GB sandisk USB drive (formatted to FAT32 on my laptop.) And the PC did boot into windows 10 once but when I switched to the I7 3700K It got stuck, I get a POST but it just Freezes whenever it tries to boot off of any drive, for example: (I go into the boot menu and try to reinstall windows or boot into windows and the computer locks up,) I tried to update the BIOS version and it says error: intel management engine and it resets. Can I find out a way to recover the BIOS? Note: moving the Jumpers 2-3 only gets me into the menu and not the recovery. Another note: the front panel LEDS will not work
