Hello SON21,

Thank you for posting at Intel Community Forum

It seems that you're encountering an issue with Adaptive Sync. For me to have a better approach in resolving the issue, please share the information below.

1. Was this working fine before?

2. Did you make any recent changes to the system? Any new hardware or software installed?

3. What is the full model of the monitors?

Additionally, we do not recommend the use of Cable Adapters, Splitters and/or Docking Stations as it usually shows graphics related issues. Please try to connect your external monitor via DP to DP.

Furthermore, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

For reference:

Using Video Cable Adapters, Splitters and/or Docking Stations in Computers not Manufactured by Intel

I hope this information helps and I'm looking forward to hear from you!

Best regards,

1. for this configuration it was not working before, however it does work on a different system with an nvidia graphics card (pc with 3080)

2. mainly just the monitor itself

3. the model is called the q24g4e (or just q24g4 in windows) but aoc g-menu (the configuration software for aoc monitors) also has this name and the serial number

i do not have a dp port on my laptop, i have an hdmi port but that doesn't support adaptivesync in the first place (4k60 port on laptop so likely 2.0 which doesn't have forum vrr, and even if it had 2.1 tmds the monitor is 2.0 so none there for sure) nor do i have any adapter from usbc to dp other than this dock and my previous dock (40ac) which had dp1.2 ports and therefore guaranteed no adaptivesync (or it had 1.2a and the same issue, i can't tell)

the 40an should be good since it uses an Intel chip inside for the outputs if im not mistaken (titan ridge) and it has dp1.4 (5k60 which is more than dp1.2) ports as well so id hope it's work

below is the ssu file

Hi SON21,

Thank you for providing this information.

Upon reviewing the requirements for successful implementation of Adaptive Sync, it’s written that a DisplayPort cable is essential. I understand that your laptop lacks a DisplayPort, which is why you are utilizing a dock; however, using third-party solutions is generally not advisable as a workaround.

To ensure optimal performance and avoid any potential issues with Adaptive Sync, I recommend using a device that fully meets all specified requirements.

If you have other questions or require further assistance, please let me know so I can attend to it.

Best regards,

ill try and get a displayport alt mode cable and see if that works

otherwise i don't think there's any new thinkpads (possibly even other laptops nowadays) that have a direct displayport/minidp port, so that solution specifically is out of the question

ill update you when i get and test it

also i was looking around and i found this

community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Does-thunderbolt-3-dock-works-with-Adaptive-Sync/m-p/1193480#M88402

it's a passthrough even on tb docks

but i also found this

community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Does-thunderbolt-3-dock-works-with-Adaptive-Sync/m-p/1193480#M88402

adaptivesync blocked on some mst hubs (mine has mst)

ok i used an actual dongle and adaptivesync works there

turns out it was the dock that was the issue and that the forum post was true

have a nice day
