Hi Intel Support,
I’m experiencing persistent crashes with my i7-14700K processor, and I suspect it might be defective. The crashes occur during games like Valorant, Euro Truck Simulator, and Minecraft. In Minecraft, the logs consistently show the following errors when it crashes:
[ERROR] Client closed with exit code 3221225477
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005)
I have attempted numerous fixes, but none have resolved the issue. Here is a summary of the troubleshooting steps I’ve taken:
Set the CPU power limit to 95W in BIOS (temperatures remained around 65°C, but crashes persisted).
Disabled XMP.
Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
Reset BIOS settings to default.
Reinstalled Windows 11 and Windows 10 three times (fresh installs using a USB drive).
Installed Windows 10 on a completely different SSD.
Despite all these efforts, the crashes continue. Based on my testing, I’ve ruled out all other components, and the evidence points to the CPU being the cause of the instability.
Here are my system specifications:
CPU: i7-14700K
Cooler: MSI MAG CORELIQUID P360 360mm
Motherboard: Gigabyte H610M (I understand this board is not ideal for the i7-14700K, but the crashes persist even with reduced power settings.)
GPU: Gigabyte 3070 Ti OC 8GB
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 CL16 32GB (2x16GB)
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 ST 650W 80 Plus Standard
Storage: Multiple SSDs/M.2 drives tested
The processor is still under warranty, and I might need to request an RMA for a replacement. Please let me know if you need further info or tests from me.
TL;DR: My i7-14700K constantly crashes despite extensive troubleshooting (BIOS tweaks, fresh Windows installs, etc.). I suspect a defective CPU and would like to request an RMA.
Thank you.
