Hello,
My display screen supports 1920 x 1920 with 60Hz only but after an update of the Intel® Graphics Driver 31.0.101.5333 on my i5-1235U PC, 1920 x 1920 resolution is not available. Worst, the driver forces the frequency at 75hz.
How can I fix this problem ? Is there an Intel Iris xe driver compatible with 1920 x 1920 60hz ?
Thanks

Thank you very much.
After checking, the Monitor EDID is not correct. The manufacturer will send me a new controller board with an updated firmware.
Intel Iris Xe driver seems to be OK.

A 1920x1920 monitor would be a square monitor, which I do not believe even exists. You more likely have a 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 monitor. We could verify if you provided the model number for your monitor.

Correct, my screen is a 33 inch square monitor. Intel Graphic Card Manager indicates that my monitor is compatible with a 1920x1920 60Hz resolution but the Intel Iris Xe driver don’t propose it in the valid modes list.
How to fix this problem ? How to customize a resolution that is not proposed by the Intel driver ?

Hello,
Correct, my screen is a 33 inch square monitor with a native resolution 1:1 = 1920 x 1920.
The Intel Graphics Card Center confirms this capability that : 1920 x 1920 (60 Hz) but the driver don't propose me this resolution in the valid modes list. How to fix it ? How to configure 60 Hz by default ?
Is the last version of the Intel® Graphics Driver : 31.0.101.5382 can run 1920 x 1920 @60Hz ?
Thank you very much for your support.

Ok, let's look at what EDID information is making it through. If you don't have a tool that can extract this information, Nirsoft offers a basic (and free) one, named MonitorInfoView, which you can download from here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/monitorinfoview.zip.
Also, question, have you tried manually selecting the 60Hz frequency and then checking if the resolution you want appears?

Hello,
First of all, thank you for your help !
Here is the EDID informations taken from my PC i5-1235u with Iris Xe Graphics.
Monitor Name Active Serial Number Manufacture Week ManufacturerID ProductID Maximum Resolution Maximum Image Size Horizontal Frequency Vertical Frequency Digital Standby Mode Suspend Mode Low-Power Mode Default GTF Display Gamma Serial Number (Numeric) EDID Version Registry Key Computer Name Last Update Time
HDMI | Yes | 26 / 2021 | 35658 (0x8B4A) | 10811 (0x2A3B) | 1920 X 1920 | 60 X 34 cm (27.2 Inch) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | 2.20 | 16843009 (0x01010101) | 1.3 | RTK2A3B\4&3b5a4f45&4&UID4149 | 30/03/2024 09:48:09 |
and resolutions in the lower pane :
640 X 480 60 Hz
640 X 480 75 Hz
800 X 600 60 Hz
800 X 600 75 Hz
1024 X 768 60 Hz
1024 X 768 75 Hz
1280 X 1024 75 Hz
1920 X 1920 60 Hz
I believe that The driver takes by default 1280 X 1024 75 Hz what it makes a black screen.
I can manually put 60 Hz but not choose 1920x1920. Iris Xe graphics allows me only some lower values (see screenshot).
I have tested the monitor with my old laptop with a HD graphics 520 and it works correctly in full screen. I can choose 1920x1920 60Hz. (see screenshot)
What do you think ? Is it a problem with Windows and the registry (edid or inf files) or with the Iris Xe graphics driver ?
Any idea to update the resolution modes list or fix this problem ?
Thank you in advance,

Have you tried creating a profile manually using the Intel® Graphics Command Center (Beta) utility (manually download and install from the Microsoft App Store)???

After that, the monitor automatically switches on 1920x1080 @60Hz resolution.
I believe my EDID monitor is incorrect and I have only two solutions : update the monitor EDID by flashing its EEPROM or use a EDID emulator.
Do you agree ? Is there an other solution in Windows without hardware correction ?
Thanks

Hello there, Franckynn...
Let me try to help you...
It seems you're facing an issue where your display's native resolution of 1920 x 1920 at 60Hz is not available after updating to the Intel® Graphics Driver version 31.0.101.5333. Additionally, the driver is setting an incorrect refresh rate of 75Hz. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
1. Roll Back Driver: If the previous driver version was working correctly, you can roll back to that version through the Device Manager in Windows. Right-click on the 'Start' button, select 'Device Manager', go to 'Display adapters', right-click on your Intel graphics card, select 'Properties', go to the 'Driver' tab, and click on 'Roll Back Driver' if available.
2. Custom Resolution: You can try setting a custom resolution using the Intel Graphics Command Center or Intel Graphics Control Panel. This allows you to manually input the desired resolution and refresh rate.
3. Monitor EDID: Check the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) using a tool like Nirsoft's MonitorInfoView to ensure that your monitor's correct information is being communicated to the graphics driver.
- Driver Update: Look for any newer versions of the driver that may have addressed this issue. You can check the Intel Download Center for the latest drivers.
- Check Compatibility: Ensure that the Intel Iris Xe driver you are using is compatible with your specific monitor model.Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise with certain display models
I hope these suggestions help you restore the correct resolution and refresh rate for your display.
Cheers,
Max
